Rodelle Vanilla Beans

From the summer Fancy Food Show in New York, we loved the sample of Rodelle Vanilla Beans. Used it to make homemade vanilla ice cream and it was vanilla heaven. We purchased a package of 10 at our local Costco Store - great price and a seasonal item. Try this yummy recipe for Decadent Vanilla Bean Hot Cocoa. Visit the Rodelle website; good information and recipes.

New Eyewitness Accounts of Kosher Offerings in Store Launched
Atlanta GA…To discover and share the availability and diversity of kosher certified products carried by Whole Foods Market, Lois Held and Roberta Scher, co-founders of KosherEye.com went on a video shopping tour of the Briarcliff Road Whole Foods in Atlanta. This was not your usual shopping tour. The duo wanted to explore the availability of kosher products in the store, and demonstrate whether the kosher consumer could fill an entire shopping cart with the unique products carried by Whole Foods- not necessarily the typical brands. With the cooperation of the corporate offices of Whole Foods Market, and along with their shopping cart, the pair walked the aisles and recorded their finds on video. The story of their kosher shopping excursion experience appears on their website, KosherEye.com, and the aisle by aisle videos are available for viewing on YouTube.com.

The KosherEye.com website was launched in November 2009. It has grown into a popular destination for the kosher consumer, retailer, manufacturer, chef and foodie seeking to “see all that’s new in kosher” including foods, wines, recipes, cookbooks, culinary gadgets and more. The pair is constantly on the lookout for unique new products for the kosher cook or food professional. They look forward to uncovering additional product introductions and networking with professionals in the industry when they attend KosherFest later this fall.

More You "Knead" to Know
About Rhodes Bake-N-Serv

Kenny Farnsworth, President of Rhodes Bake-N-Serv (OU kosher certified), was kind enough to answer some questions for KosherEye.

Kenny resides in Salt Lake City, UT and explained the following: "We have a very small Jewish community here with no kosher restaurants and/or bakeries. The local rabbi loves using Rhodes for making Challah. We decided to become Kosher certified around 15 years ago. We had requests from consumers and decided to make it happen. My family loves the Rhodes Butterscotch Bubble Loaf Recipe. It is delicious!"

Food Glorious Kosher Food!

In June, KosherEye attended the 2010 Fancy Food Show at New York’s Javits Center. What a food fest – so much kosher to eat, so little time. We stayed at a very special, new and reasonably priced boutique property, The French Quarter’s Guest Apartments, which we highly recommend. It is just off Times Square and has a “kitchenette area”, including a refrigerator perfect for the kosher traveler.

frenchyqthotelcrRooms vary in size. When we asked Colin, the very accommodating manager, if he has had any celebrities stay there, he replied, “All of our guests are Celebrities!” We attended  a Tweet–Up with many of our Twitter food colleagues, ate in several kosher restaurants, and of course, walked everywhere.

And, then it was off to our kosher road trip through Pennsylvania and Maryland.
